With Martin and Horton off the books the leafs would have 30 mil (on a 75 mil cap could go up as he go as 80 mil) this offseason so 9 goes to JT (unrealistic number but let’s go with it) 6-7 to willie and that’s all they truly need this year. Next year they have Mathews and marner but they get another 15 mil next year and if they go 11 and 8 then they’ll still have tons of room to sign Karlsson to a 10-11 mil contract and sign some help players like Johnsson and kapanen and brown to 2-3 mil deals and if the cap goes up even better.

Bit of a stretch calling Karlsson the best defenseman in the league.

If Ottawa wants to take the package you are offering here, then Leafs could do it. I would assume Karlsson would have a contract in place first.

I am not a fan of Karlsson. Strictly an offensive defenceman, terrible defensively. The Leafs would be wise to stay away from him. The Leafs would be wise to trade for Tavares instead. Look to solidify the centre ice position. Kadri, Gardiner and the 25th overall pick for Tavares.

Rest are ELC

We would be tight up on the cap but can make this work, Even if we trade Hainsey since this is his final year in his contract at 3mil.
