I imagine you plan to draft Dahlin with that 1st overall?

Dahlin is still going to be years in developing. If Leafs make a move, it has to be someone who can have an impact now. Especially if you are trading somone off your current roster (and Nylander at that! ) .

I would suggest Nylander and our first to Buffalo for Ristolainen. He’s a player who is poised to become one of the elite defenders in the game. He would have an immediate impact and require no developing.

Buffalo would have two 1st round picks and Nylander. They can still draft Dahlin, and have an extra pick. Plus Nylander.

Buffalo would never trade their first overall and that wouldn't even be close to what they would want. Dahlin will come in next year and be a top 4 on any team, he's going to be an impact player next year.

Id want to get a little more actually coming back nylander and a first i think is an over payment for a first overall. i'd consider first this year first next year not lottery protected brown neilsen amd another b level prospect.

Buffalo isn’t trading their top pick and not for the above mentioned. Dahlin comes as advertised as is thought of as a game changer, top pairing d man, who might also be a future franchise player. I’d love for the Leafs to pull off a trade that lands this kid, but it’s not happening without a serious overpayment. Besides, would Buffalo be willing to trade this kind of player within their division? Much has been made about Buffalo coming up short and losing the top pick in past drafts. This is their turn to take the top player.
