kings are tight against the cap and don’t have a lot coming off the books to re-sign Doughty.

I know I’m going to get a lot of hate for this, but it’s all in fun.

Leafs trade Nylander, Gardiner, and a first for Doughty.

Nylander is a great player, but he’s very one dimensional, and realistically, he will probably top out at 25 goals and 60 points any given year. Gardiner has performed well for us, and kings can try to re-sign him or trade him.

Coming from a guy that will post the same trade proposal 5 times doesn’t say much.

I'm not sure how the girls feel about an old man checking them out.

One dimensional?

My lander has proven he can pass, score, take faceoffs, forecheck, win board battles and most recently with his defensive stint. back check.

He is an incredibly gifted player who could be a hell of a lot better if he was more competitive and tried harder.

I think that’s what it would take to get Doughty but it’s an over payment in my opinion.

I probably haven’t given Nylander enough credit here. His defensive play has improved this year, and certainly he is a more complete player than, say, JVR. Nylander really is a talented and gifted player, and I would be more than happy to have him remain a Leaf for the duration of his career. But I’d still rather have Doughty.

If we could have any defenseman, Doughty would be my first pick. He brings a passion and fire with his other obvious talents and I think he would help the team play a full 60 min every night.

This trade is just a gamble. Doughty is nearing the end of his prime and we would likely only see his career decline while with us. Nylander is still on the up swing and we don’t know what his ceiling is yet. I just remember him at the world championship last year. The guy was unstoppable. If he did progress into a true #1 center than I think we would lose this trade. Especially with Gardiner at his most valuable and another undetermined first.
