I want Gardiner and brown.

I agree with you on JVR. He’s 28 years old. Which in the world of pro hockey means he is pretty old. One simply does not sign a 28 year old to an 8 year contract.

JVR can put the puck in the net, but that’s about all he can do. He can’t hit, can’t take a hit, can’t fight, can’t pass, can’t block shots, can’t take face offs, can’t play pk, and plays less than 15 minutes a game.

5 years at $5.5M is more than fair.

What makes you think you know what he wants? The truth is you haven't the slightest clue what he is thinking right now.

Huh? 28 is not "pretty old". And he plays more than 15 minutes a night (in his last five he has only had one game below 16 minutes, and that is his career average) . Try and grab a clue before commenting.

DBF

The average age in the NHL this year is 27.1, which makes JVR pretty old.

JVR has averaged just 14:50 in ice time this year. Since 2013-2014, when he averaged over 20 minutes a game, his ATOI has dropped every single season. He has taken exactly 1 faceoff this year (which he lost), has a measly 30 hits, and only 20 blocked shots.

Instead of dropping insults and looking like a damn fool, maybe you should get a clue and do some research yourself first.

You wouldn’t get very much return for that. Brown is a third liner and Gardiner is UFA. You might get Hjalmarsson or someone like that. I like the idea of moving Gardiner, and throwing in Brown is a good idea to up the return. But if we only get a marginal improvement (if that), then what’s the point? Would rather keep Brown and trade Gardiner for a 1st, or keep him if we can’t get a good enough offer.

Grundstrom is next to arrive

Dermott
Kapanan
Johnsson

Look fantastic

Brown is slowly turning into that grinding guy good on peneltie kills. But to me falling down the depth chart

Say bye

JVR
Bozak
Komorov although leafs could keep him at fair numberer.

If komorov signs I think brown is traded

It's either komorov or brown not both.

jVR gone nkomorov out a while means we can see Johnson more. Good news

Hyman Matthews nylander
Marleau kadri marner
Johnson Bozak Kapanan
Leivo Moore brown

That's what I want to see next week

Speed and skill three lines deep.

Brown's depressed numbers have more to do with his deployment and relative inexperience that him simply "turning into that grinding good guy. "

He's on the Bozak/ JVR line primarily to serve the same role Hyman does on the top line - work hard in the corners, play solid defense, and get the puck moving back the other way so that more skilled players can cycle it to JVR in front of the net.

Even if Brown is deployed the same way next year, depending on how the third line shakes out, he should improve his numbers similar to how Hyman has improved his numbers in the same role.

Brown and Hyman are Babsock's boys - they aren't going anywhere unless the return is something Babs and Shanahan really covet.

Oilers trade Lucic Draitsidle retain two million on his contract

Leafs trade Gardiner and Brown

Then oilers sign Jvr

Leafs basically take 6 million of bad Lucic contract
Get draitsidle for 6.5 million a year as Oilers eat 2 million of his deal

Leafs trade Gardiner and Brown

Oilers Draitsidle retaining 2 million and a garbage dump of Lucic.

jvr scores a lot of goals for the amount of ice time he gets
sign him for 6.5 and trade nylander.

Clutch. JVR is older and LW. Nylander is a natural center and will be (or is already) and NHL center, at 21.

I do wonder how much Montreal would pay for him though.
