Because there's no way you have in the year you sign doughty and karlsson doughty karlsson marner matthews nylander laine marleau and tavares under the cap nevermind everyone else you suggested.

I wasn’t going to comment on this because it’s so ridiculous, but then I got bored.

Aside from the obvious fact that we would never be able to afford all those players, the other truth of the matter is that we don’t need all those players. As the old saying goes, “too many chiefs, not enough Indians”.

Everyone dreams of icing an all-star team, but the truth of the matter is that everyone on the team has a different role to play. If we iced a team like this, we wouldn’t have the role players and grinders who provide a team with depth by specializing in all the small things that make them so desirable outside of their offensive contributions.

It’s a nice thought. But Leafs pass on virtually everyone except one of the defensemen.
