Plekanec and Kyle Baum to the Leafs in exchange for Kerby Rychel, Rinat Valiev and a 2nd.

I like it. Better 4C than Moore, and Rychel and Valiev are nothing, but could get a shot with a Montreal team that will sell fast.

Great trade leafs 2 second round pics so they lose one. Rachel and values not in leafs plans going forward. Fantastic trade.

That's two players that the Jets were trying to get. Now that the Leafs have signed Plekanec, it would behoove them to move out a centre of there own.

WPG:
James Van Riemsdyk (LW)
Dominic Moore (C)
* Maybe Leafs retain some of JVR's money to sweeten the deal.

TOR:
4th Round Draft Pick, 2018
1st Round Draft Pick, 2019

P. S. Thank you, Kelly Hrudey for stating the obvious by calling out JVR's lack of backchecking during Saturday HNC game against Boston. This is the rubbish that annoys me about his game. Sure he gets a lot of tap-in goals, but the guy doesn't even use his size to drive hard to the net like smaller guys on the team do (i. e. Hyman, Kapanen) .

Shanaplan

Agreed on JVR

Johnson has speed and will go to net

Leafs are not done more things will shake out in next 24 hours

The haul for JVR is a first a second plus. Look what New York got for Nash.

The leafs aren't going to trade JVR for just picks and prospects. If they do that, they'll use those assets to acquire a defencemen. They're contending this year, they're going for it.

The Jets won't give up a first for JVR. They don't need him at all.

IMO a rental player Trade becomes good if Leafs sign Plekanec to a contract. He is ufa and can return to Montreal in 2018/ 2019 season.

Just don’t like giving up that 2nd in such a deep draft if he bolts.

Jvr gone and Johnson in you don't lose much. Jvr won't play two way game.

Mackin you’re an idiot we lose one our top point getters and the only reason the leafs have been so effective is because the leafs are three lines deep the only way the leafs move jvr is if we get a top dman or replacement forward that put up around the same numbers as him picks aren’t enough if you think by adding more rookies to the lineup will help your fooling yourself why take one step forward and two steps back.

Andres Johnson

Speed will go to net, try him get assets for JVR

Johnson is youngest AHL player with most points.

Give it up with Johnson leafs are not going to throw a player with no nhl experience in the lineup for the playoffs doesn’t matter if he goes to the net he’s had a good season in the ahl but the ahl and the nhl are a big difference leafs add no more forwards and maybe try and add something in the backend just because Boston’s gm is retarded doesn’t mean every other gm is give your head a shake.

Andreas Johnson has never played an NHL game. Expecting him to take over for JVR when the Leafs are set to attempt a deep playoff run is unrealistic. I can’t see Johnson even getting a chance with the Leafs this year, despite leading the Marlies in scoring. Johnson is a good player who might one day become an NHL regular, but he’s far from taking over for JVR.

With the Leafs being a borderline elite team right now, I don't see them moving JvR without getting an RHD back, and then making a move to bring in a JvR replacement. That seems like a lot to ask for. Johnsson has definitely looked good in the minors, but I don't see the Leafs calling him up and immediately slotting him into a key role for a playoff run.

Johnsson should make the team out of camp next year, and may get a call up for injury insurance during the playoff run, but he's better off staying in the minors this year and trying to win a title of his own with the Marlies.

Also everyone is writing the leafs off in the playoffs they have as good as of a chance of making it deep in the playoffs they can beat Tampa they can beat Boston so to move jvr for picks that really
Hurts our lineup.
