Domi is having a bad year, just like the rest of the Yotes; but he still produces.

Another bad year and maybe they start moving more youth. But they will probably only sell vets at this point.

I'm guessing Hjalmarsson, Demers, and maybe even OEL. They will probably go after Taveras and a few free agents in the off season with the massive amount of cap room they have.

Do you think that Taveras will turn down 12 M?

Take out the second round pick and I would make this trade. Gives us a depth centerman for a couple guys we don’t have use for, and frees up a contract space at the same time. Arizona probably says no as they may still value Domi higher and may want to wait a year to see if he bounces back.

Arizona might pursue free agents, but they aren’t exactly a big budget team. I have a hard time seeing them splash out big bucks for Tavares. And I have a harder time see Tavares wanting to play there. As an aside, Stamkos took less money to remain with Lighting than other teams (including the Leafs) offered him. Will Tavares take a hometown discount? Maybe. Wouldn’t be the first time. There are lots of precedents.

Draft picks are never great to give away but I would sacrifice some draft picks (not firsts) for Domi - may be a different player in the playoffs, and that’s what matters at this point .
