Tor
Leivo, Bozak, soshnikov, gardener, jvr

Phoenix

OEL, 2nd

Sounds fair for both teams.

WHAT!?

My dead god.

Let’s look at what each of those players would likely fetch individually in draft picks (or equivalent prospect) .

Leivo - 5th-7th, Bozak - 2nd, Sosh - 5th-7th, Gardiner- 2x1st, JVR - 2x1st.

I’ll even drop one of those firsts to low ball this as much as possible.

Sure, let’s trade OEL for 3x1st, a 2nd and two late round picks. You’re basically trading JVR, Bozak, Leivo and sosh for an slight improvement on Gardiner. Based on NHL fantasy rankings, Gardiner is better.

OEL is -40; the worst +/ - in the league by far.

I think someone wants to get traded.

He's been consistently in the negatives for the last 5 years. Yes he can score; but as with Gardiner, there are two sides to the game. OEL is completely lost on side.

He's a Gardiner that's not trying.

No thank you.

Trade for someone else. I wouldn't give up Sosh for him.

Gardiner is definitely not worth two firsts. Neither is JVR. Bozak is not even worth one first. It’s still a huge overpayment for OEL though. And if I was phoenix, I would turn that deal down anyway. UFA’s are only worth a draft pick if you trade them before the deadline. So if Phoenix gets stuck with JVR and Bozak, they aren’t worth squat. Coyotes aren’t making the playoffs this year, so won’t be wanting any rentals. After the season ends, JVR and Bozak run (not walk) out the door. So all you got left are Lievo, Soshnikov, and Gardiner in exchange for OEL. It’s a bad trade for both teams.
