Leafs clear some contracts, some conflicts, and gain a good 3C, Defensive RHD, a few draft picks, and best of all we can trade Gardiner. Doing these trades will also give the young guys steady minutes, and we still have tons of depth in the minors like the whole team is full of NHL ready players.

1 with how edm is now they will not trade their 1st to anyone probably for anything certainly not for pending ufa and 3rd liner at best. their pick is going to be top 3-5. unless leafs offer matthews (haha) or jets offer laine (haha) they keep their pick

2 gardiner pending ufa 2019 ceci pending rfa this year and younger, that trade will not happen. not sure the love affair with pageau from some on this site?

3 pens have murray. i know he doesn't have security blanket in fleury, so don't think this trade makes sense for them.

1. Edmonton still wants to go for the playoffs and Ciarelli is stupid enough to do this trade.

2. Doesn't matter it goes off value, and Peageau is a good 3C that is on the trade block that can be had for cheap that is why.

3. I do not know if you niticed but playoff teams can use a good backup goalie incase of anything and the Leafs have 4. Penguins wanted one and can have a decent one in Pickard.

Well he does not want out but he will be traded before the deadline because of his contract.
