Before everyone shoots it down, here it out.

To TOR: D - J. Trouba

To WNG: D - J. Gardiner + 2019 2nd round pick

Stats are:
Trouba 3G 15A 18 pts (23 years)

Gardiner 3G 22A 25 pts (27 years)

Trouba is an RFA, will be seeking a raise while Gardiner is under contract for another 2 years on a favourable deal. The Leafs also toss a 2nd round pick. The Jets also have some decent D prospects to build with.

Not a chance. There is no reason for the Jets to make a change that makes Winnipeg weaker and Toronto stronger. Gardiner would not be the main piece in any trade for Trouba.

I like it, although "Peg Heads" think Trouba is the next Pronger.

Winnipeg is in for a harsh contract battle this time around. That lovely 15 M cap will disappear fast enough with Lowry, Armia, Morrisey, and Trouba to get hefty raises. I expect them to let Entstrom go to get that done.

So it's in the Jets interest to get a return for him now, rather than have him disrupt the team again for 3 months in the fall.

Actually, Jets ask in the past has been " a top 4 RHD, a 1st and a prospect", so Gardiner being a main piece in a trade for Trouba is realist.

Except that it was a "young" top 4 D, so Gardiner would not be the main piece in any Trouba trade.

Why? Trouba's not a top 4 D. Bottom 4. Clearly doesn't have the offense. And his temperament is suspect.

I don't understand why you keep begging the Jets to trade him to TO then. Just let the Jets keep him as he obviously isn't that good.

Is it because the Leafs play in a division that is worse than most AHL divisions and are still struggling to stay above the wild card line because they have no defense?
