2017-18 Trade Deadline

PIT:
Tyler Bozak (C). UFA
Josh Leivo (LW). RFA
Connor Carrick (RD)... RFA
3rd Round Draft Pick. 2018

TOR:
Bryan Rust (RW). RFA
2nd Round Draft Pick. 2018
4th Round Draft Pick. 2018

Penguins get a third line centre and future young winger. Leafs get some added draft picks and Bryan Rust (IR) is for cap reduction and probably won't even play for the rest of the season. Dominic Moore can than be easily slotted into the third centre line role to play with JVR, Brown and/or Marner.

DET:
Kerby Rychel (LW). RFA
2nd Round Draft Pick. 2018 (SJ)
4th Round Draft Pick. 2018

TOR:
Mike Green (RD). UFA

Wings secure draft picks and reduce cap space. Leafs secure an RD to help with the power play and push Roman Polák out of the lineup.

2017-18 Trades * After Season is Over

VGK:
Jake Gardiner (LD). UFA
Nikita Soshnikov (LW). RFA
Matt Martin (LW). UFA
3rd Round Draft Pick. 2018
2nd Round Draft Pick. 2019

TOR:
2nd Round Draft Pick. 2018
1st Round Draft Pick. 2019

Knights get a top-four defenseman with a cap friendly rate as well as a young prospect. Matt Martin is merely a cap dump if the buds can pull it off. Leafs secure draft picks to use and/or parlay into another player trade. Bryan Rust could easily be signed to a $925,000 contract extension to play on the 4th line with Gauthier & Kapanen.

In closing these trade scenarios are more realistic and fair for each team as they do not gouge organizations. And the Leafs free up ample cap space to take a serious run at John Tavares for the 2018-19 season and possibly Drew Doughty for 2019-20 season.

These trades will most certainly not free up enough space to sign tavares or doughty.

Green gets u much more than rychel a second and a forth. Rychel has zero value put him waivers no one will even claim him. Your trades are nonsense.

Cheeks97. Are you sure about that? Because according to my metrics should all of these hypothetical trades take place with a projected average cap space of $80M to use come the 2018-19 season, the Leafs would have roughly between $13M to $15M in cap space left over. And that's including the signing of JVR to a $6M extension, Nylander to a reasonable $4.75M deal and Tavares to a $10.5M contract. Side Note, Horton's LTIR contract is excluded from these projections. So hey that's always a nice bonus to fall back onto.

I will concede that it would take some superior wiggle room to fit Doughty into the line up come 2019-20 as well. But it can be done.

Bozak is worth a late 1st and prospect. He was 61st amoung forwards and 29th among centers. #2 centers are not that easy to come by. He will net a 5-6 M deal in free agency.

You are just giving him away.

Green can be signed as a free agent. No need to give up anything for him but money.

Gardiner alone is worth the very late 1st and 2nd.

Wholesale is not the way to go.

Okay Shanaplan, but you have to take into consideration of how much we will have to pay M&M as well as other players which will be ready for new contracts in the coming years.
