I can't be the only one that thinks Gardiner has been an issue on the Leafs blue line. He's sloppy with the pick he's lazy and he makes stupid plays. His contract is up after next year so if like to see him get traded either at the deadline or in the off-season.

To Toronto: Olli Maatta

To Pittsburgh: Jake Gardiner, Levio, 2018 2nd

Olli Maatta could fit into are top 4 nicely he is only 23 and has almost an identical contract to Gardiners but Maatta has 4 more years left after this one. Maatta is a steady 2-way defender that would fit in with the Leafs.

Like it, minus the pick. Gardiner has the better stats and Lievo is an NHL ready top 9 winger . Should be more then enough incentive.

I want Gardiner gone more than anyone but I do not like Maata as a fit. I can see Dermott taking that spot internally or trading with a team like Carolina for a good LHD prospect.

I think we’re giving up to much but I like the idea.

I’ve been saying we need to move Gardiner for three years, he’s the biggest thing hurting the Leafs D. Almost anyone in the system could come in and be a safer player.

On another note, Connor Timmins for the Avs looks like an absolute gem. Would love to have that guy in the pipeline.

Why would any other team want him considering his defensive deficiencies?

Need to trade for a RHD not a LHD. Otherwise Matta would be fine.

Gardiner has offense and that is rare enough in defensemen. If he goes to free agency, he will snag a nice deal and be lost for nothing.

Time for Lou to trade him for futures; or a big, aggressive, stable RHD. Gardiner will be more attractive to other teams with the extra year.

The Leafs have 4 players to trade and get a return for before the deadline. JVR, Bozak, Leo, and Gardiner.

And it's not that these players can't extend for a reasonable price if they wanted to stay. But some will have to go to meet the cap in two years.
