D Buds, why is it a stupid proposal. Gardiner you trade for a Dman who plays on the RH side with a 3 year contract.
Landeskog a 4 year contract versus JVR 1 year contract. You have to pay extra for a younger version of JVR, at the same contract price that TML would have to pay to extend JVR.

Well, JVR has significant value on his own. He's worth a 1st and a prospect in a trade. Whether you like Gardiner or not, Barrie is not a significant upgrade

Barrie - 4G 23A, Gardiner - 3G 16A

Although right handed, just don't see the value for what the Leafs are giving up.

So for 2 players that are not significant upgrades, you add in Brown (an excellent young player) on a great contract, Nielsen and a 1st.

Would rather keep JVR, and package for Doughty!
