First I think I need to point out that the Leafs are doing well and therefore don't need to panic and make rash trade decisions!

None of the Leafs core are getting traded, which includes Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Kadri, Reilly. A close 2nd to the core would be Brown, Hyman and Lilijegren.

That being said, as the Leafs are doing well, unfortunately not sure if they trade away JVR, but they can certainly part ways with Bozak.

To CBJ: C - T. Bozak + F - A. Johnsson

To TOR: D - R. Murray

Murray is underused and has not blossomed as they would have thought, Bozak fills a need at C for CBJ.

I think Savard would be a better fit.

Im not entirely against this trade, but a coinciding movie would need to be made to get another center. I don't envision Nylander moving to center this year.

And Bozak has his issues, but he's a top 5 3rd line center. Easy.

Leivo + Aaltonen ( Leafs)

for

Jarnkrok (Nashville) They have Centers
RJ. Turris, Bonino + Scissons.

Like your trade @ Heatdreamer. I think Jarnkrok would is a solid 3C and younger and cheaper (26, 0.825 this year then 4x 2.0M) . Next, add Lindberg, also good and cheap (26, 2x1.7M) .

Moore, Rychel, Valiev to VGK for Lindberg

Bozak, Carrick, Nielsen and Bracco to Ducks for
Manson and a 2018 2nd

Then forget about trying to match other teams top line. With 4 good centres just roll the lines and let THEM try to match. Manson with Rielly gives you a top pairing and PK help for Hainsey and Zaitsev.

Martin-Mathews-Marner
JVR - Kadri- Brown
Marleau-Jarnkrok-Nylander
Komarov-Lindberg-Hyman

Rielly - Manson
Gardiner- Hainsey
Borgman - Zaitsev
Swap Brown and Nylander if you like, either way, looks like a contender. Plus, all are signed to good value contracts into next year and beyond except Komarov and JVR. Extend JVR (5.5Mx6) and Sosh or Grundland for Komarov.

The idea of grabbing Murray would be that in the offseason you move Gardiner as with the Big 3 needing new deals, unfortunately he'll have to go!

Trading for Manson would be good, a bit much in that package for him though!

@TO

Good deal, but I like Savard better as well.

@Heatdreamer
You just have to like that contract for the next 4 years, while the guy produces 30 pts. Hats off to the Pred's who have credible cap management on display; a model for all teams to follow.

@Spider

Too much for Manson, and the Ducks would probably prefer to move Vatanen. Montour replaces Vatanen and is much cheaper for them moving forward.

Sami is a good Dman, but not what the Leafs currently need.

Manson is what the Leafs need (others being Trouba RFA, Petrovic RFA, Sustr FA) , but I don't think the Ducks are going to move him.

But you never know, the window on the big 3 up front is closing for the Ducks.

@TO:
The question is whether Gardiner has the most value at the upcoming deadline, or in the summer; or at the next deadline.

We do have good replacements for him already.

Spider, do you seriously think Anaheim is going to give you Josh Manson for that package? He's one of their best defenseman this year and a beast in front of the net. Neilson has regressed this year Bracco can barely crack the lineup and he's out of shape bozak is a UFA and Carrick can barely crack the lineup in the two years he's been with us. Lab can you explain why it's too much on Toronto's part? I find it odd that Anaheim would give a top
4 defenseman maybe even a top two for that package.
