TOR: JVR, sign&trade (6x6)& a 2nd in 2018
CAR: Justin Faulk

THEN

TOR: Tyler Bozak (retained salary), Leivo
CGY: Sam Bennett

LINES:

Hyman-Matthews-Nylander
Marleau-Bennett-Marner
Komarov-Kadri-Brown
Martin-Moore-Soshnikov

Rielly-Faulk
Gardiner-Hainsey
Borgman-Zaitsev

By bringing in Faulk, you're bringing in a gritty top 4 d man who will log big minutes with Rielly. Not to mention he'll get you 20 goals a season. Even though he's having a rough year in Carolina.

By bringing in Bennett, you're getting a great 2 way centremen who's good in the faceoff circle and will play the dirty areas. No need to worry about Bozak defeneding anymore. Bennett looks like he's lost his offensive talent but Marleau and Marner could easily bring that back.

Your top 3 lines are all even shut down lines with plenty of offensive upside.

Although I like the players coming in, not sure enough is being given up, especially for Faulk.

Also, I would hardly call Bennett "great" he's been pretty awful this year. No way he supplants Kadri as the #2 Centre either.

I could definitely live with the 1st trade, although I highly doubt that it would be enough for Carolina.

The 2nd trade is just horrendous for Calgary.

I like the 1st trade, but Carolina will want more, even if they can get an agreement to extend.

As for the 2nd trade:

Bennett would make an excellent 3rd line center, but he's not going to be traded to Toronto.

Burkie has recently spieled off about the Toronto Media. Then when there is a hint of trading Bennett (to guess where), he goes on the defensive, that Bennett is going nowhere, just like Hamilton last year. And remember that with the exception of the Pylon trade (a loss for both sides), Toronto won most trades prior.

While Burkie is in Calgary, a trade with Toronto will not happen. There is a lot of ill will on his part.

But that's fine, there's 29 other teams to trade with.

He destroyed the Leafs and now he's helping ruin the Flames by continuing his cranky tirades; to put it nicely. He's toxic to team development. Fortunately for the Flames he's not making the decisions.

But I guess you could say "Finally! He's actually working for the Leafs".

Challenging teams will pay for Leo, JVR, and Bozak at the deadline; it's just that our price might have to be lowered or a package deal made to offset the cost.
