Un-freakin-believable. why do we need another winger if we are deep. Why give up a young star with better potential for an aging star? If I had to give up marner to the jets, it'll be for Trouba, otherwise it's a dumb trade.

Wheeler at 31 is great and putting up very good numbers early in. So Marner for a Wheeler exchange? Wheeler is 31, Marner is how many more years younger, faster, and more years of playing moving forward? Marner isn't going to be traded anytime soon.

The Leafs would only trade for a vet like Wheeler, giving up promising youth, when they are on the cusp of winning a cup.

They are years away from that (despite the games the odds makers are playing in Vegas) .

That said, I still can't believe Boston traded him in 2010/ 2011.

Marner got 61 in his first year and Blake 45.

Blake is just under a point a game producer.

Marner will be over that.

In two years, if Blake is willing to accept low pay; he can join the Leafs for a cup run. Or, he can sign elsewhere for the big money and win early tee times.
