The Duchene three-way deal just past. And I can't see a move like that happening again, with those kinds of names at least. However, a smaller three way deal could happen.

Toronto Maple Leafs Trade:
(C) Tyler Bozak - 50% Retained.
(LW) Joshua Leivo
2018 2nd Round Pick (lower of SJ/ TOR)

Vancouver Canucks Trade:
(D) Eric Gudbranson
(C) Alex Burmistrov
(LW) Thomas Vanek

Anaheim Ducks Trade:
(C) Dennis Rasmussen
(LW) Max Jones
2018 2nd Round Pick

---

Toronto Maple Leafs Acquire:
(D) Erik Gudbranson - sign to 4 year/ 14 million extension.
(C) Alex Burmistrov

Vancouver Canucks Acquire:
(LW) Max Jones
(C) Dennis Rasmussen
2018 2nd Round Pick (TOR/ SJ)
2018 2nd Round Pick (ANA)

Anaheim Ducks Acquire:
(C) Tyler Bozak - 50% Retained.
(LW) Thomas Vanek
(LW) Joshua Leivo

Why for Toronto?
Bozak is excess offence. Marleau has started playing centre. They need defensemen, shutdown guys nonetheless. Gudbranson is an RFA after this season, and he doesn't seem all that wanted in Vancouver - apparently, he was offered to Florida for Demers. He, alongside Gardiner, could be nice, as he plays defence with no offence, and Gardiner plays offence with holes on defence. Leivo is excess depth, which is nice, but with Sosh's Russia Clause, I'd like to see Sosh as the depth guy - he's still servicable. The pick is eh.

Why for Vancouver?
Yeah, they're doing good. But they don't have the high-octane team that'll propel them anywhere in the playoffs. It's better to tank now. Trading three guys who have decent values due to good starts will bring in a good haul. Erik Gudbranson is a guy who they weren't keen on, Vanek was an offseason addition, and Burmistrov was another offseason addition. Getting the most out these guys from a desperate team is what is needed. And Anaheim is that desperate. Eaves, Getz and Kesler all missing time atm. Max Jones is a solid player who could be a nice 3rd liner checker in the future. 2nd Round Picks are nice to have, especially to stock the cupboard, and they could help if Vancouver wants to move up in the draft.

Why for Anaheim?
Desperation. Offence is bleeding. Derek GRANT is your fourth highest scoring player. You need offence in any way possible. This isn't a rebuilding or retooling team. This team is supposed to be a monster in the West. Adding patchwork guys like Bozak and Vanek helps in the short term to patch up the offensive woes, and when guys like Eaves/ Getz/ Kesler come back, they become rentals who will help on the playoff run. Josh Leivo is a nice incentive as well, as he'll probably stay on with the team as a third liner, even past this year. It's a lot to give up (former first rounder and a future second), but it's needed if Anaheim wants to get back in the race.

Seems pretty fair to me, I like this.

You are obviously a Vancouver fan by what you land up getting in this proposal. Toronto will keep their wares.

The Leafs pass on this one.

Gudbranson: You are right - "No offence", +/ - has always been negative, lack of self control. He's a detriment to a hockey team; a complete first round flop.

The Panthers were happy to unload him and a 5th, for a B player,2nd, and a 4th.

Burmistrov: Not a chance. Sucked with the Yotes, the Jets, and now with the Canucks. The Leafs AHLr's are better.

This deal completely sucks for the Leafs. Keep the Canuck garbage.
