Tor trade: Gardner and marner

To blue jackets. Werenski and Boone Jenner

I love marner. Don't think leafs would trade him.
But would like to know what everyone thinks of this trade. Is it fair for both teams.

Leafs get a power forward that's tough and with speed and a top 2 dmen. And someone to quarter back the power play.

Marner is untouchable. Gardiner on the other hand is not. I would like to see the Leafs acquire Max Jones from Anaheim, along with two punishing defenders. Would Anaheim being interested in Bozak and/ orJVR? What about the Islanders and JVR? Can the Leafs pry a D-man from the Isle?

I love the leafs and marner.
But the reality is only Austin Matthews is untouchable.
Every one else is tradeable.
Like you don't give up players like marner or even a nylander. But if the package is another young stud core player with other things added in any deal. Then maybe they would trade a core piece. And Jvr will be traded before trade deadline. For a first and d prospect.
So the Anaheim trade is possible. I see bozak going to Pittsburgh at deadline for a 1st. Or prospect.

Only Matthews is untouchable.
Jvr will be traded to west coast team at deadline for a first and d prospect. I think bozak is going to penguins at deadline for something try for a first but probably second and prospect.
But I think you are under rating werenski.
He finished ahead on marner is calder voting.
6"2 quarter back of powerplay. 50 points almost as a rookie. plus 17 as a rookie dmen.
He's a stud. And it would knock Riley to second pairing where I think he should be.

James H. Matthews, Marner and Nylander are untradeable. The Leafs would never get good value in return for either Marner or Nylander. Coach Babcock (aka Dick Tracy) is ruining Marner. Marner needs to centre his own line and play with either Brown and or Kadri on his wing. The coach should stop playing Bozak and/ or JVR with Marner as neither Bozak or JVR are on Marner's level skill or compete wise.

Marner is going nowhere, his plus/ minus has been even for the last 4 games (even though the Leafs had lost three) . It's just a matter of time before he starts scoring. Just like last year.

But yes, Ny. Magic; the Leafs should stop playing Marner with Bozak and JVR, both for lack of skill, and the fact that neither will be with the Leafs next year and Marner will be wasting a year playing with them. He needs to progress by playing with other linemates.

Boone Jenner is overrated. Last year was "meh". This year sucks so far.

Werenski is not going to be traded. Star, stud, rookie dmen, almost never get traded in their sophomore year.

Gardiner may get traded, but not right now. He's at his peak, and is affordable for this season and next. Assuming Borgman sticks (and he's raw, but is looking better every game), The Leafs will likely trade Gardiner and keep Borgman. One of Dermott or Neilsen will move up into the 3rd spot. Cap considerations will make this a necessity as well.

After the next two seasons or sooner:

Reilly, Liljegren
Dermott, Zaitsev
Neilsen, Borgman
Rasanen (Can be held in the minors, by the low paid vet of your choice)

Not sure we need to rush to trade for any D help. Concentrate on upgrading the 3rd and 4th line centers.

Lab16 I think we can throw Carrick in the mix also. He should get a team friendly contract this year maybe around 2mill for 3 years, and will fill out the right side. I think there's a better chance the defence looks like this in 2019.

Reilly zaitzev
Borgman liljegren
Rosen Carrick

Other than that I'd have to agree with you.
