First, they are not giving up a reliable backup. Second, they have the cap space to sign Brown already because of LTIR. Learn some facts before posting proposals.

Mazanec is a sack of potatoes.

McElhinney is nothing to ride home about. He is 34 years old and inconsistent. Sure he is a veteran but the Leafs need goaltending prospects and Mazanec has proven he can carry the workload in Nashville behind Renne. Mazanec is 26 yrs old, 6'4" athletic goalie, a younger McElhinney.

Mitch Marndaddy - Curtis McElhinney is an older sack of potatoes.

DBF - Check "capfriendly.com" as of right now, the Leafs projected cap hit is $78.93 million. The Maple Leafs are over the cap limit of $75 million by $3.93 million. Don't you think the Leafs would have signed Brown by now if they had cap space due to LTIR? Why don't you do some homework first before spouting off telling me to learn some facts!

When the off season ends Nathan Horton and Joffrey Lupul don't count against the cap anymore due to them being moved to LTIR, that's 10.55 million off the table. Subtract that from the 3.93 they are over now and that leaves them with 6.62 in cap space. Those my friend are facts.

I think you best learn how the league works before making yourself look even sillier NylanderMagic.

He means ltir kicks in at the beginning of the season and then we can sign brown with that money that becomes available.

The 3.93 is projected LTIR, that doesn't mean anything that's jus the site projecting a number to get back below the cap. For the Leafs the projected LTIR should be 10.55.

Nylandermagic you are clueless. First, they DO have cap space if they apply for LTIR. Even the deputy comish said that teams can do that. Not having signed Brown has nothing to do with cap space and everything to do with the number of contracts they have as they are one away from the limit. Second, Brown has said that he understands why he has not been signed and that he is fine with it. Third, the experts are saying that he will be signed the first day of the season when the Leafs can dump people on the farm (this assuming no trades have been made prior to then which free up contract spaces) . Again, Brown said he understands that and is fine with it. As for McBackup - the saying is not "nothing to ride home about", it is "nothing to write home about". Please grab a clue before you post things as you clearly do not understand either the Leafs' current contract situation, nor idioms commonly used in the English language.
