Leafs sign Krug

Would rather take a shot at Krug on a long term contract than waste assets on a dman like Parayko Or sign pietrangelo for only 2 years

Thoughts?

Krug is a great player to try and sign if leafs needed a left handed dman. i'm guessing his ask will be 7X7 million maye even 8 million. Cheaper than petro long term and definetly cheaper than petro short term. He doesn't cost any significant assets as he costs only cap and money.

The LA deal if its done after the krug signing simply replce holl with dermott and LA adds Brown to offset the salary coming LAs way. That way the rebuild on the fly still stays moving forward properly.

Rebuild on fly requires adding younger players to surround aging star players while removing anchor contracts .

If LA drafts byfield losing thomas won't hurt. Kappy becomes the younger cheaper brown. Dermott is the player LA hopes Clague can become but now with experience. Kerfoot plays behind kopitar and byfield. 2 huge centers followed by a fast center. Not a bad little deal

Question is would brown be worth getting 2 prospects while losing 3 capable players.

Put Roy in over Clague and leafs would do it, Clague is LHD and we already have an abundance of those.

I like Krug as well but at his age and what he’s going to demand it would be impossible and also not that smart to sign him.

I think Walker would be a good choice too. Damn good player he is. LA has lots of good defensemen. They got a lot of good centres coming too now. Between Byfield, Turcotte, and Vilardi they are set for years. I hope Vilardi can get overcome his back issues. Would be real good to see him be successful with all that talent he has.

LA is an interesting team right now. If they can make a transition as quickly as Rangers did it would be an incredible success story.

Can't see Leafs taking Brown on in any part of a deal Craigger. Not unless it heavily favors the Leafs. His contract is a dead weight on a Leafs team that can't afford a boat anchor like that.
