Now that looks like a Stanley Cup winning team. Those top three lines are stacked. And I mean stacked.

I'm not going to worry about the trades themselves. Just going to pick in your lineups a bit.

Dermott as our 1LHD is a bit questionable. I have no doubts he is a top 4 defenseman. Or at least he will be. But right now I think he is at best 2LHD. Asking him to okay 25 minutes a night on top line might still be too much for him.

I love the idea of using Robertson's elc to help mitigate against the cap problems. But Robertson on 3LW is a bit of a long shot. I would love to see him make it right out of junior, but that's not something you see too often, even for the most elite players. Even Marner spent an extra year developing after being drafted

Tippett might actually be good enough to make the team next year. I see you traded for him, but didn't insert him into the lineups. He is an A-prospect for sure, and I would be thrilled to see a lineup including both Robertson and Tippett.

Big moves here HeatDreamer. Ballsy choices for sure. I love that Florida trade. Just don't know if Florida would be willing to swap out Huberdeau for Marner when the difference in salary is so large. You get way way way more bang for your buck with Huberdeau than you do with anyone on the Leafs.

Thank you, Robertson has to go back to junior, he is not allowed to play in the AHL due to age. Move him up.
Dermott and Muzzin can interchange LHD roles, I felt Muzzin would be better with Ristolainen and Ekblad would enhance Dermott.

My trade with Florida was much larger initially.

Marner + Reilly + Anderson

for

Huberdeau + Eckblad + Tippett + Bobrovsky + $3 MM a year

Than the trade for Sabres
Johnsson + Kerfoot + Korshkov

for
Ristolainen + Reinhart, but this raised the Leafs salary to $85.5 MM, above the initial quote of the salary cap.

Go big or go home. Leafs have played 4 years at least with this group. Time to make some changes.

Make the Florida trade or the Carolina trade.
Than add the Buffalo trade.
If you make the Carolina trade, you can trade Kapanen with Dermott (because you receive Niederreiter) for Theodore.

Huberdeau is better than Teravainen, but is Slavin better than Ekblad? Pick your poison.

You saw Bob this year right? He makes 10/ yr very long term and looked like an emergency backup. If he doesn't improve they will be paying someone 3 1sts and 5 prospects to take that contract.

Freddy is a UFA, Marner is on a bad contract and Reilly is rental+. Teams don't give up long term assets and A prospects for that. Especially not guys like ekblad. If a trade came down tomorrow ekblad for Reilly I wouldn't question Dubas. Reilly may not be resigned for cap reasons and Ekblad is signed to a decent contract longer term.

There are teams who require point scoring forwards. So I will respectfully disagree with you LL.
There are teams like Buffalo who require forwards for next year. Also, Buffalo has defensemen, that they want to trade.

Columbus traded for 1 year players to go for a Stanley Cup. Winnipeg did that with Stasny. So again I challenge your statement due to History.

So Reilly for Ekblad is acceptable.
The question is what is Marner worth?
Apparently, we have different opinions!

Right LeafsGM I think if the league give out a compliance buyout and they rid themselves of bobs contract this is a very real trade but in their own division it would be hard to say they would do it.

So what is Marner is worth? Definitely not a buy out for 100 point player a year.

That is why Huberdeau or Slavin + was provided.

Some people will suggest to substitute Nylander for Marner. Does this change value- should the Leafs achieve the same players for the above trades.

Leafs would provide Nylander + Kapanen + Reilly for trade of Huberdeau + Ekblad + Tippet. Than Florida can buy-out Bob by themselves.

Leafs and Buffalo can complete the earlier mentioned trade.

The following changes would occur:
Kapanen would have to be traded. As LGM states Tippet would start as 3rd line RW, a savings of $2.34 MM. Mikheyev becomes 2RW behind Marner.
