Here's a little draft move

Tor: 2nd(2020) 2nd(2022) petan
Ott: 1st (2020) nyi

So here's my thought Ottawa has 3 first this year only other team that has that many is New Jersey but Ottawa has possibly two top three pick and as a team going through a rebuild trading down is never a bad idea if you are getting either more picks or a prospect (petan is not a prospect) seems a bit steep now but I think it sets us up in the draft to get a good player who may fall out of the first round also found out the conditional 2nd from the LA trade is in 2021

I can't see any team giving up a 1st for two 2nds that would be in the 50/ 58 position and an AHL player.

Normally I would agree but this is different case Ottawa is rebuilding and already are going to draft two potential franchise players so if they could keep that going I can see a possibility of something like this happening.

Yeah that's a solid no.

I can see many situations where a 1st = 2 2nds but probably not this one.

Leafs traded down at the draft too during their rebuild and we missed out on drafting Konecny as a result.

I totally understand the point you are trying to make here. I've never been a big fan of trading down. Unless you are dropping from an early 2nd (33-40) for a late 2nd (55-64) plus an early 3rd. Something like that. I just don't think it's worth it. Ottawa would be losing an early 1st in a high quality draft to drop like almost twice as far down for that first 2nd. Huge drop going from a 20ish pick to a 50ish pick and a 60ish pick. I wouldn't want the Leafs to do it.
