If the rumours are correct and STL wants to re-sign Pietrangelo, could the Leafs target Parayko?

To STL: F - A. Johnsson + D - T. Liljegren + F - J. Bracco + 2022 1st

To TOR: D - C. Parayko + 2021 3rd

My assumption is that if STL re-signs Pietrangelo, with Faulk and Bortuzzo signed as well the team is overstacked. The package the Leafs send is a quality package of young players

Parayko only has 2 years left by the time this trade is done. There is no chance he resigns after those two years as he won't be affordable at all. They can't have one of the only prospects we posses of value+a first+ a top 6 winger for him.

Neither team does this I don't believe.

You know me sheet trade. Parayko is not getti g traded for that trash. Quantity doesn't equal quality. Bracco is not nhl material and is awol. Blues have plenty of Johnson's on their team.

Just draft your own dman.

I believe the rumor I'm reading most lately, and it's a very real possibility, is that Blues are absolutely not going to re-sign Pietrangelo. They knew this already long ago, which is why they brought in Faulk. Parayko has shown he is more than capable of playing 1RHD. He did excellent when Pietrangelo was hurt last year. And he did outstanding in the playoffs last year too.

Blues plan is to just let Pietrangelo walk and to promote Parayko and put Faulk at 2RHD.

Armstrong will most likely let Petro walk as he will want long term. Armstrong has built a very competitive team through competency. Nothing about him leads me to believe he signs a 30 year old to Karlsson type contract. As much as redwing trolls us, when Petro signs somewhere else he will tell us all how the team that signed him are idiots because they payed to much.

Always liked Parayko. Of all D in the league I would take if given a chance it would be Parayko. He would balance the leafs out perfectly including the top pairing with Reilly. Big body, physical player, plays great D and moves the puck well. He may not be the best puck mover and an average skater but Chara has been a below average skater for many years. Size and positioning along with a high hockey IQ can make a player.
