Trade to solve all problems for the leafs.

T.Tiffoli, A.Martinez, J. Campbell

This helps on defense as Martinez can play either side and veteran presence. Also toffoli can play with Tavares as he struggles with Nylander and Campbell is a better backup than Hutchinson.

Toronto could still sign that Russian goalie they want in March I believe this year and play for the marlies and fight it out next season with Campbell to see who gets the backup spot.

If toffoli does not re-sign as a ufa in July cap saved to look else where.

Possibly, but the team needs more wiggle room with the salary cap. Although Dubas said he would not trade Nylander as long as he is GM, that will cost him his job. Don't think for one moment that the major shareholders and MLSE board cares how he feels about Nylander they want to win and win now!
Trading Johnsson and or Kapanen will not help our cap situation or get the players we need on defense or in net.

I get most people still have this dislike for Nylander but he is on pace for an amazing season. Why just gift him to a team.

So all that for a dman signed for just next year. A backup goalie you are sure fits the bill. And a forward who may or may not sign with us
