Leafs trade Dermott, SDA, Robertson
Vancouver trades Hughes

I had to repost this one for DeadHead Wing because now that the original post has been pushed to the second page, I doubt he will read the responses.

See Louie, this trade was with Vancouver, not NJ. We are talking about a defenseman here, drafted 7th, not a #1 overall centre. Big difference. Maybe you don’t understand that just because they are brothers and have the same name, they are not the same player. You must read the proposals a lot more closely before replying. You just make yourself sound foolish. Again. Maybe if you start reading and understanding things better we can take you more serious.

Damn no virtanen this time. now i'm iffy about the deal. LOL

Quinn Hughes is good now but he is so tiny for a D that come playoff time will he even be a factor.

You know once SDA and robertson leave the leafs prospect pool people will look at them as the steals of their draft . best prospects vancouver has. both top 20 on the prospect list if nhl had mlb list.

But due to they are leafs that means they are both poo

Right now everyone is anointing hughes the next great offensive D but once hughes becomes a leaf he will be poo.

Id only do this deal if virtanen was involved. then leafs could trade the balding holdout once and for all. heck make a bigger deal with vancouver. they love their swedes. was actually shocked karlsson didn't get dealt to vancouver instead of san jose.

Oh yeah. Of course Virtanen is included. Or any other decent forward. Though to be honest, I’m a bit of a fence sitter on this one myself. SDA and Robertson are very good prospects. Best in our pipeline. If we trade them, come the end of the five year period, if we start losing players, we will need them. And Dermott is still the better player. He’s here and now. Hughes still has a lot more to prove. So it’s a huge gamble by the Leafs. We could end up weaker now, and weaken our future at the same time. I mean, let’s face it, Virtanen hasn’t exactly broken out to be the player they thought he would be.

Craigger did you see my very first post. Guess reading isn't your fortee. Also third was a previous post in regards to new jersey. I probably hit reply on wrong one. My bad. But hey doesn't change the fact that neither Vancouver with Quinn or new jersey with Jack will be trading their nice young players for Toronto pieces. Just realize that dubas aka Ghanaian screwed leafs with over payments. How are marner 4 goals in 15 games he is on pace for like 20 goals lol and at 10+ mil lol enjoy.

redwing1.

This isn't my proposal. write to LeafGM. harmless mistake but read the name first before responding. might save you embarrassment.

Guess Panarin must suck since his contract is even worse. some teams pay for primary assist guys. marner and panarin get paid for that. i do agree dubas paid out his arse but that's not my worry. i don't judge players based on what they get paid.

33 year old Wheeler got $8.25 for similar numbers as Marner. Guess Winnipeg is suckers too? O’Reilly gets $7.5 and has never broken 30 goals and other than last year, was a sub 70 point player his whole career. So what’s the point here Louie?

"reading isn't your fortee" he says, ironically misspelling forté.

@Craigger I think in most other sport salary is secondary to talent but in hockey it seems to be the other way around as guys are getting paid such a high percentage of the cap now you almost have to factor that in when judging. If Mathews Marner and Tavares made a combined 18m instead of 33m most people wouldn't be saying anything about any of them playing badly and would be happy with how they are playing. But when 3 guys (as an example) get 40% of your cap hit almost have to. Out of all sport's hockey is one the biggest team sports. You can't sign one guy and hope for the best so unless that 40% of your cap gets you the equivalent of 6 players it really doesn't matter how well they play.

Assists and goals are two very different things marner got over paid so did nylander. Dubas screwed up and now Toronto is showing it. I never get embarrassed. thought my name was louie lol. Seriously like I said Quinn Hughes is performing phenomenomally right now. Why on earth would you trade this player for that sheet. Especially when you have a very young team.

LeafsLife,
When marner isn't involved in this topic i don't care about his cap hit or what he makes. When an actual trade is proposed than yes contracts matter. When watching the game money has no value to me. Its about the product on the ice. whether a 700K guys scores or a 11 million dollar guy does the result is what matters.
