I actually like this trade. Petry always stands out for me whenever I'm watching the Canadiens play. He would make a great partner for Reilly.

Credit where it's due, nice proposal.

@Leafs1994 while I understand the sentiment, the Leafs have shown a willingness to trade with Ottawa in recent years. I think the whole no-trades-with-your-rivals is more of a fan feeling than a management reality.

What the? Is RedWing starting to turn into a Leaf fan? May be hope for the boy yet. I was never a big fan of Petry. I always felt he was just a RHD version of Gardiner. Heâ€™s really stepped up his game though recently. Last couple years heâ€™s played really well, and when Weber was down, Perry really stepped up and showed everyone what he was capable of. Still not a huge fan of his, but this deal actually works in a few different ways that makes me think itâ€™s actually a pretty good one. We save cap, get an extra year of a better defenseman, and gain a pick. Kapanen isnâ€™t doing much and is tops on Leafs most likely to be traded list. Kinda solves the whole problem about who to protect for the expansion draft.

Congratulations RedWing. This is a real good prop. Iâ€™m impressed. In fact, the only hole I can poke in it is that Petry isnâ€™t exactly the big heavy hitting defenseman we want. Him and Reilly are cut from the same cloth. Both offensive defensemen. So no one to stay at home when the other is leading the rush. Reilly, Barrie, Petry are all very similar players. Otherwise, I think itâ€™s a real good proposal.

JDB as Leafs ambassador? Iâ€™d almost rather have Drake. Lol. Can we not get a cool ambassador for once? Someone like Iron Maiden? Now that would be nice. Some â€œNumber of the Beastâ€ after every goal scoredwould work. I mean, Jets gat to play Van Halen, why donâ€™t we get Iron Maiden. Image is everything. Maybe a mascot like Aliceâ€™s Cooper that cuts off baby heads and blood squirts on the opposing team? We scare the crap out of the opposing team, they might not come back.

Get use to seeing JDB more at leaf games. Now that he lives just an hour from Scotiabank and with his money and having a light schedule until march he will be at many. If the camera finds him anyways. usually he is in press box

See if he will improves on his bell center record tonight.
