Can jets afford this? I guess if Buff isn’t on payroll they can. Ceci is a top 4 player on the Leafs. There is no doubt he is top 4 in Winnipeg. A 3rd round pick for a young, former 1st round pick, top 4 nhl defenseman is a pretty good price. Winnipeg might take the chance on renting Ceci for a year. I assume this only happens if the first trade happens. But I’m not convinced the first trade happens. Fleury might be nhl ready, but not top line beside Reilly nhl ready. Ceci is making him look bad enough. Fleury would get lit. I’m not sure Kapanen is worth a 1st, let alone a 1st+. So I have a hard time seeing either team do this. Fleury is no replacement for Ceci. And Canes might not think Kapanen is worth basically two 1st round picks.

I was thinking of trying d pairings of
reilly barrie
Muzzin fleury
Dermott holl.

Also with Fleury's age and that this looks to be the first year he breaks the top 6 regularly he doesn't hold the value of his 7th overall status he was drafted with, especially considering that first round pick esentially just cost Carolina money and cap space. I'd be fine to make this trade with the 1st being a 2nd as well.
My thought process on the D pairings are barrie reilly could end up being very dominant if they can learn to cover for each other, especially if our forwards recognize they are jumping in and can cover back. Muzzin may be able to shape fleury into something special holl and dermott can do a solid job manning the 3rd d Pairing. My thoughts on next season on D end up being

Reilly dermott
Muzzin fleury
Sandin lily/ holl

That right side looks a little weak again unless fleury becomes a beast for us, he also usually mans the left side so this is hoping he can make the transition.

I can’t believe Carolina drafted Fleury 7th overall, Bean 13th overall, and Hanifin 3rd overall, and failed to develop any of them properly. Without doubt, this has to be the worst case of ineptitude management I’ve seen in at least 30 years.

Ferguson junior is still the worst I have seen. That rask deal goes down as the worst deal I have ever seen, and after what rask did at the world juniors.

But I agree 3 wasted picks in the top half of the first round is something else.
