i think laine is worth more than nylander. However, even if winnepeg somehow decided to approve this deal Laine would then have to sign for 6.9 million AAV and i don't think he would.

If Laine was willing to take Nylander money he would have been signed awhile ago. Not the biggest fan of Laine at all seems like a dick. Had enough of those kinds of guys (ahem Kessel) around the leafs.

We have enough goal scorers anyway. While the thought of having four 50 goal scorers on the team sounds appealing, it only works if we have a set up man for them all. We don’t. And trading Nylander would leave us only Marner for that job. Unless Kapanen actually learns how to pass, then Leafs need Nylander more than Laine, who only had 50 points last year. Way too risky taking a chance like that.

Redwing1, nothin really gets to me. just trying to find good trade discussions. Always been fun to do. i think evry fan base including my own has very differing opinions on what is worth what.

Guess that's why every GM now needs a Sr. advisor to overlook everything the GM misses. it ain't an easy job. lol.

When nylander and marner weren't getting signed others came to leafs site and made proposals. Everyone said once marner signed all the rfas would follow. Well a week later and 4 massive rfas haven't signed. Then Big Buff doesn't show up to training camp and winnipeg appears to be screwed.

I had a little fun on winnipegs site. i even got called a homer when i'm a leaf fan making non leaf related trades. Memarcuswhateverhisnameis think its joe is a fun character. lol. redwing at least puts up some effort sometimes in his responses.

Anyhow, i'm done playing now so back to the site that has the best most logical discussion. thanks leaf fans and some others.

A lot of so-called “experts” on other sites actually just have a list of comebacks and putdowns they fall back on when responding to a trade. As usual, their teams players are worth their weight in gold, and Leafs players are 💩.

Like I said, Laine had 50 points last year. Laugh at how Marner wasn’t a 30 goal scorer all you want, he only had 4 less goals than Laine and almost twice as many points. So how’s is Laine worth $10M? I got to hear the explanation on this one.

Laine just loves his video games. Nothing wrong with it unless it interferes with your performance at any job non video game related.

Ill admit his goal scoring is elite top3-5 in the league. Last november i believe it was he got 18 that month. he isn't a fluke he is legit.

Pesce with a salary dump and a prospect to me is his value and if i was a jets fan knowing buff may be gone and after losing so much in offseason i'd be happy woth hat since you are dealing strength for weakness. I said the same for marner. Nylander all i said was pesce straight up.

I made similar proposals value wise for both laine and connor to 3 teams but jet fans want a 1rhd and a 2C and a top prospect. even i wasnt that greedy. lol.

Marner, ratanen, laine and aho in my mind could fetch a top 4 D, solid 6-9 forward as a cap dump and a top end prospect

Connor, boeser, and tkachuk in my mouth mind could fetch a top 4D and 9-12 forward as a cap dump and a 2nd tier prospect

Werenski, mcavoy and provorov in my mind could fetch a top 6 forward and top end prospect

This was before any signed. now its a little different and of course just my own personal opinion.

I don’t think there will be as many players sitting out now that Marner is signed. These contracts take a very long time to draft and secure. It’s a lot of money we’re talking about here. Billions upon billions of dollars. And each player is different. Outside of ELC’s, there really isn’t a plain vanilla contract. Each player has to be evaluated, compared to peers, predicted future results. It’s a lot like picking stocks actually. And same as the stock market, valuations go up and down, sometimes quite rapidly.

@Craigger agree with value on everyone except Laine. He had 50 pts last year and would gladly sign an offer sheet. Marner said he got 2 and Aho obviously got one. I don't think most team value Laine that high right now. Kind of a jagr type. Show up and be world class or just get lazy and do nothing.
