Leafs trade Dermott, Bracco, 1st
LA trades Kempe, Martinez

Kempe’s speed would make him a nice fit flanking Kerfoot and Kapanen’s one. The loss of Dermott is mitigated by bringing in Martinez. Sandin and Liljegren make the team after deadline, or we use any combination of plugs.

Leafs are all-in now for the next five years. They won’t make a trade unless it improves their chances of winning the cup. The core is set, the clock is ticking, and the countdown has begun. The Shanaplan has 5 years left to win.

How do Leafs pay for Martinez AND Kempe. Leafs are capped out.

Good point HeatDreamer. I thought about that after I posted. Lol. Forgot about the cap now that Marner is signed.

I guess if you do the detroit deal you posted above this deal could work. don't know if you need the first as LA is in rebuild mode and getting rid of the salaries they are giving the leafs is worth a first in intself.

Kempe is bridged. 2x$2 isn’t a bad deal for a guy that can center a third line if needed. He is an excellent skater, and would be a good pick up for Leafs. Martinez is obviously brought in to shore up the right side. We have to dump Ceci to make this deal work. LA might accept because it’s only a one year commitment. We keep our first.

We can give Kempe to Tavares? Kempe would instantly be a 60-70 point player. And we still have a kick ass third line too.

Yeah I guess it's not a bad deal if you can move some money around. All in all not a big fan of Martinez though.

@LeafsLife

Why not? He’s a proven top 4 defenseman and can play beside Muzzin. Barrie and Rielly are first line. The third line, who cares? lol.

What’s your beef with Martinez LeafsLife? He was Muzzins partner for two Stanley Cups. If it wasn’t for the fact he was on a team with Drew Doughty he could probably have been a 1RHD, though that is debateable. What’s not debateable is hat he is still one of the best 2RHD’s in the game, and has two years left on his contract, and would be perfect beside Muzzin.
