Tor Marner 3rd

CBJ werenski, Anderson

Werenski on a good deal and CBJ was rumoured to want Marner. Seems like a win win to me.

I like this deal and if colombus really wants marner they'll like it also.

Who knows what dubas likes at the this moment?

@ Craigger I feel the same there. I know Dubas wants only small fast puck movers but beyond that who knows.

I like this deal too. Werenski is on a nice bridge deal that leaves him RFA after. We can re-negotiate then. He won’t come anywhere near what e would have to pay Marner, so I’m sure Subas won’t have much problem re-signing both Were ski and Rielly. Werenski might even be the next Rielly. He is off to a wonderful start to his career. Columbus actually got it right. So many of their other 1st round defensemen picks were so bad. They were counting on Werenski and he came through. Columbus would love Marner. He would be the cornerstone of their rebuild. Playing with DuBois, Marner would perform just as well as playing with Tavares. There is little to no doubt in my mind that Columbus would jump on this deal, and I like it too. No, Werenski is not RHD, but that’s not so big a deal right now as it seems since we got Barrie and, lol, Ceci. Would Leafs make this deal. I doubt it. Werenski is a solid top line defender. No doubt he will be better than Gardiner one day, if he’s isn't already. Anderson we all know and love on this site. A couple tiers lower than Marner, but still a damn good player. He would be nice for third line and even on one of our top two lines, say, in place of Hyman while he is away injured. But Leafs focus is on running an elite offense with superstars on the first two lines. I don’t think this trade would satisfy their offensive needs, and is a move toward a more defensive focused style of hockey, which is antithema to Babsocks style of play.

Love Andersen and value is fair, just don't like commenting on a deal for Marner. Based on what is going around I don't see any team in this league paying the asking price Marner wants.

@16 I pick CBJ as there were the rumours they offered Marner 7/ 13m. Clearly interested if that's true but I agree, going to be hard to trade him with his ask at the moment.

@LeafsGm all good points. Just not sure, if it comes down to it, what Marner will fetch and I don't think it's much more than this. His ask is way to high for most teams to want it. Dubas would probably be the issue though as you said, he seems to want the best top 6 in the NHL and whatever else fall where it may.
