Now is the time to trade for Pesce I mean Carolina's defence looks like this now

Like that's so stacked then even if you take out Pesce Faulk goes to second pair and fox or bean or someone is called up

Which makes ours now really good. Don't hate on me for keep trading for Pesce since it's the only logical move we could make right now

I still feel like human is almost a guy the leafs can’t trade we talk a lot on this site last year at the deadline that the leafs have no grit so makes no sense to move him also he’s our top pk guy.

Fox is on the Rangers now, but you still make a valid point. Only thing is, after signing DeHaan last year and crying almost $30M payroll in defense, everyone figured Carolina was going to trade Faulk or someone then. They didn’t. For whatever reason, Waddell seems intent to carry a huge stock of defensemen while not improving the forwards at all. Interesting to see what shakes out over there.

Carolina is over the cap by 2 million and don't have any ltir relief. If pesce is the dman toronto is going to get its going to take a better offensive guy and less injured guy than hyman to get him.

Now carolina has to deal more cap out in the deal for anything to work and since every dman costs less than marner or even nylander on carolina youd have to think kapanen would be the target. Add in a few picks or a prospect they may like than i think getting one of hamilton, faulk or pesce becomes a possibility.

Dont care if you undervalue kapanen or not the cap is the cap and carolina will be dealing more money out in any deal to get under the cap. That means any team dealing with them knows this thus will take advantage. why wouldn't the leafs try?

They practically gave DeHaan away. I can see them doing another questionable trade like that again. Waddell is a real character and not know as the shrewdest of dealmakers.

I don't think Hyman is enough nor would I want to lose LW. Kapanen may do it for peace in a one for one right now though.

Due to the cap limitations carolina has now being 2 million over every dman on carolina is worth less when trying to deal them. other gms know carolinas problem so the value of them getting under the cap outweighs the value of any of their dmen. how does that marleau buyout look now. oh yeah just remembered teams can only have 2 bought out contracts. semin and marleau. damn they can't buy out anyone now. i say grab hamilton or pesce while you can. bargain deals

Kapanen for either hamilton or pesce straight up.

If marners value goes down due to his salary demand so does the value of each player on carolina by 2 million. try arguing that logic.

Lol. I’m pretty sure they can dump salary in the minors or something to that effect if they need to Craigger. It is only $2M after all. It’s not an insurmountable number. I actually think Carolina is intent on entering the year with this defense and then trading Faulk and TVR and whoever else at the deadline if they are not in playoffs.
