I would be ok with that, although a bit higher than I would prefer. If any team offers more than that, they will surrender 4 1st's so I'm not worried one bit. No team will give up 4 1st's for a non generation talent.

Remember Kessel. the Leafs were blasted for 2 1st's and a 2nd.

I really don't understand what's up with these kids. Marner will make Millions over his career, does it really matter how many. These kids are saying its with their agent, so when the agent refuses the offer and Marner gets dealt is it the agent that plays somewhere else, No. I understand that every player needs to get what they can that's just human nature, but to say he is worth more than Kucherov, makes no sense. I believe he is worth $9.5m to $10m a year for 8 years, any more than that is telling me he is in it for himself and doesn't care if there is anything left for anyone else.

The main problem I have with dealing Marner for Makar or for picks/ prospects, etc, is that these guys are not signed long term themselves. So we have to go through all this again with these kids coming in. So it’s just another big circle of trades.

It’s a bit of stretch to call Matthews a generational talent, but say Marner isn’t.

LeafsGM I agree completely. both are top flight talents but not generational.

If anything, Marner is the better player. And he isn’t injury prone like Matthews.
