Defense is young but we are a little tougher with Crouse and my man Krazy eyes Kassian. Little cap space plus we have Bracco and Engvall pushing to make the team. We may need to add to the defense and I'm thinking Hainsey for one more year witch would put us at the cap.

Without touching the core of the team this is as good as it can get

Why would a team trade for Gardner when he will be a gree agent in July? Why waste assets?

The defence is worse than this year.
Philly will not trade that either as Borgman and Marchment will not play in the NHL.

If Marner gets $10M fire Dubas, guy can't negotiate short. Bad deal with Nylander, not great deal with Matthew's and then that!

Also not sure Marleau waives NMC and San Jose is facing their own cap problem so they may not want him even if we do retain 50%.
