If you have to keep Marleau it’s ok leafs are short on left wingers leave Bracco in minors next year. These moves up top save tons of cap space we need true number one right hand shot defencemen. name him leafs gm because we have the pieces to make the trade

Nylander brown for excellent number one right handed defencemen young and with term.

Yes Nylander is overpaid but he’s also been one of our best players in the last two months him and Matthews are gaining momentum and if we get them back to where they were that’s a great one two punch our issue lies with the 3rd line kadri has actually suffered this year we really don’t have anyone to play with him I think it would be him we move he’s got a great contract and could be a number two center on most other teams the fact that our fourth line is playing better then our 3rd line shows how much disconnect there is between brown Marleau and kadri kadri can bring us a top 2 d or a high pick or good draft pick.

For Nylander + Brown + extras, I would like to see Leafs target a player such as Heiskenan or Chabot. Hanifin having a stellar breakout year in Calgary would be a nice
Ice score. McAvioy of course. Or am I overreaching here? I know a couple of these guys are not natural right hand shot. But when you are that good, it doesn’t really matter.

There’s so many outstanding young defensemen coming into their own right now. It’s exciting to see these kids breakout and really perform at such a high level at such a young age. I think this is the best crop of defensemen to enter the league in about 20 years. Maybe longer.

I agree with you David. Leafs have the pieces to make it happen if they want. I know Liljegren is going to be a star. But there’s no rule preventing us from having more than one right?

I know you are big in Makar David, is there anyone else you would like to see Leafs target?

LEAFS MAY HAVE ANOTHER ONE IN PIPELINE. Mac Hollowell I don’t know how good a skater he is. Skating is what did in Andrew neilson but if Mac can skate maybe you add him to a core that is coming in Sandin and Liljegren. Let’s look at Nylander more closely let’s put him down as squat the first 20 games. So he basically has 22 points in last 44 games do we trade KADRI instead. Brown is gonzo end of this season for sure he doesn’t do enough for leafs where he is slotted. One other guy on this list has to go

Nylander marleau Kadri to me marleau must go after July 1 along with Zaitsev. Then leafs have fixed cap for a while they sign Kapanen Johnson Marner Ennis. The players gone are Gardiner Zaitsev Hainsey Marleau and brown.

Guys coming in Rosen Liljegren moore Korshkov Bracco. Then leafs have cap money to solve the parts that are not working in offseason. I’m really concerned BOSTON do away with TORONTO easier than they did last time.

Is Hollowell still leading OHL in scoring David? I think his size turns a lot of people off Hollowell, but he’s the same size as Spurgeon, who has done rather well for himself. He could be a real steal. Him and Sandin obviously have good history together. He looks like he’s got real potential. A top 6 of Reilly/ Liljegren Sandin/ Hollowell Dermott/ Rosen doesn’t sound too bad does it?

The only problem I see is that we are a couple years away from fielding that defense, and we have to hope all these guys work out as expected. I’m the meantime, we burn years of contention using plugs and gap fillers and Zaitsev. That doesn’t sound as appealing.

Which is why I think what you say here makes sense. Leafs have the pieces to make something happen now. Cap is tight next year and we still have Muzzin, but after next year we will have the mo eh we can afford a real 1RHD too.

I’d like to see them pull the trigger on a trade sooner. But I don’t think that happens. Which is better for us on this forum because it gives us more to talk about.

I would say moving forward kadri is our best option to trade we can get a good return and shed cap I think we are stuck with Marleau brown is gone Zaitzev will be hard to move but he could be moved as good as ennis has been hard to believe they will keep him I’d have to say one of Johnsson or kapanen might be the odd ones out me personally I think it’s Johnsson he’s been great and he plays our weaker side but he’s 24 and Kappanen is 22 if the leafs could get kapanen to hit the net I think he could score 30 goals in a season just because his speed puts him in a position to do so idk I just don’t see them dealing Nylander yes right now his contract looks rough but down the road it will be fine leafs only need 1 rhd to play with Reilly and there are plenty of them out their that make under 5 mil a season.
