Gotta love Seguin. He’s one of the few players in the league I would trade Matthews for. Just an all-round class act, he can do it all. Using Algebra 101: (Matthews-Seguin) ~ (Klingberg - Zaitsev) . Though some will argue that the difference between Klingberg and Zaitsev is greater than the difference between Matthews and Seguin, it’s not a big deal, the bulk of the value is there, and a pick or prospect is all that is needed to tweak the deal enough to make it “fair”, and shut the naysayers up.

I would make this move, and although Heiskenan is tempting, really, Klimgberg is everything we hope Heiskenan can be. Klingberg is currently the superior player by far.

Gutsy Trade

Seguin and Klingberg, fits Toronto's needs

Than trade Dermott + Bracco for Manson + Ritchie. Anaheim needs to reduce their Cap. Receives two talented players.

Brown + Kadri + Ohziganov for Anderson + Jenner + Nutivarra.
Leafs Gains grit and talent at both of the Wings.

Marleau's replacement will be Jenner.

Leafs convince Arizona to take Marleau for Crouse who plays for the Marlies next year.

Allows Leafs to pay for Johnsson -$2.8 and Kapanen -$4 MM.

Moore Gaulthier Ritchie is your 4th line.

I don't see anything in it for the Stars. Seguin is better than Matthews and on a much, much, much better contract and then the Stars give up Klingberg for a cap dump.

Joe buddy, matthews is argued as the 3rd or 4th best centre in the league seguin is placed around 10 - 15

Mcdavid crosby malkin matthews stamkos bergeron tavares eichel toews and then there's probably 8 players on par with seguin.

Sorry Randy, the only place Matthews is argued as a top 3 or 4 center in the league is on Leaf fan boards. In reality, for the rest of the world looking at it without bias, Matthews isn't in the top 10. Seguin is better at literally everything than Matthews.

Corsica has Matthews ranked 7th for center. Seguin is 16th.

Like I referred to in my response, as Joe obviously sees (Klingberg - Zaitsev) >> (Matthews - Seguin), then Leafs have to add.

Klingberg is ranked 4th for RD, Zaitsev is ranked 83rd. Quite a significant difference. So Leafs would need to add. Stars are looking to improve right away, so they would want a roster player in return rather than pick/ prospect. Kapanen might get it done.
