So looking at last night so game seen some eye sores. Marincin should never play another game he was awful but here's the problem Rosen Borgman Sandin Liljegren are all injured talk about rubbishty luck also what stood out to me was sparks he played ok a lot of the goals where not his fault but saying that his goals against average is not good so I think it may be time to give up on sparks this isn't his first season he has played for the leafs before and didn't make it so I say we go back to Hutch he's a solid goalie and played great for us when we got him offseason moves

Why does everyone want to trade Kadri. He is on a fair deal. Leafs have a choice to make in July: Trade Marleau if he will accept a trade after he gets his bonus $3m July 1, or Nylander on July 2, or both. We need to keep our younger controllable guys and add on D if we want to keep getting better.

You just said it. “we have to keep our younger controllable guys. Kadri will be 29 next season, not saying that that’s the reason why but, bare with me.
Kadri has another 3 yrs left at which point he will be 32 yrs of age, still not old, but in today’s game it’s not young. He is on a team friendly contract, correct, but nylander is younger, and proving that he looks like a centerman Kadri can bring a good haul from the right team, maybe even a top RHD, while nylander could as well. you are sacrificing from the future as nylander has more term (2yrs) at only 2.4 mill more. When Kadri will cost more at that point. kadris value is probably at its peak even though his production has declined slightly due to third line responsibilities, where as nylander still has growing room and may not be at peak value for a couple years. That’s my opinion anyways.

I think even with Nylander dropping to 6.9 I think the leafs would have to retain some money to maximize his value.

Lol. Babsocks you said it best. If Leafs need to keep our younger, controllable guys, then Nylander is the guy we need to keep, not Kadri.

But I fully understand what 16 is getting at. And he’s right too. Nylander brings more in trade value than Kadri. And as a winger, we have so many high quality wingers that trading him wouldn’t make us worse in any way. Kapanen has already demonstrated that he can do the job at half the price.

Kadri is also a true center and has been playing that position his entire nhl career. One of the best two way centers in the game and on a decent contract, it’s understandable that 16 wants to hold onto him and trade Nylander. After nylander’s bonus is paid, his contract is very attractive to a lot of teams. Nylander alone can bring us a true 1RHD with term. Kadri can’t. Trading Nylander for a young, cost controlled, 1RHD solves so many problems for the Leafs.

It’s a debate that both sides have a lot of valid points to argue. In the end, I suspect we keep both of them. Even though I agree that at last one of them should be traded. Waiting for Liljegren to develop could take a while and burn up another year or two of contention years. It’s uncomfortable thinking we might not be true contenders until halfway through Tavares’ contract.

Good afternoon everyone that includes you too hotwing69, i’d Like to pipe off some points myself on this post thread.

Kadri is a good player he has a 17, 18, 18, 20, 32 and 32 goal seasons and was on pace for 25/ 26 this year until he got injured he may get 20/ 22 now we’ll have to wait and see. This is what we need from him, one monster playoff and then trade him at peak value at the draft and target your RSD you guys say we so desperately require.

This is my thought consistent defense system and net presence would be a start and that blame should fall on Babcock and his deployment. Babcock has these guys firing pucks up the middle looking for that fast break out pass and it works I will admit but we need guys to skate it also to change it up.
I think Kadri should go before Nylander I also think Nylander should be moved to center And we need a Right Shot defense but no one seems to care about the deployment of what we have.
How he deploys the goalies is another travesty, he don’t trust Sparks and has to use him in bad situations. How is Sparks supposed to build confidence in his game? That game last night should’ve of been Anderson’s and Sparks should’ve played a weak team like the Oilers. Babcocks game plan was to totally abandoned Taverse at long islander by putting Sparks in net. Sad state of affairs in the Mecca of Hockey.
Last couple of points, We need to address coaching and we need to understand we have some talented soft players it’s going to be tough until Marleau goes. Too expensive! Bad contract never like Marleau in San Jose don’t care for him much here either. Lol! I’d sooner if we kept Levio and a couple other prospects a little longer and signed a defensemen prior to signing Marleau probably would’ve of made more sense. Hindsight I guess? Anyways.
Last but not least Riley for Captain!

I agree with you HoundDog I think Babcock need to be using Rosen and Sandin right now give them a shot look at dermott last year Rosen has 44 pts in ahl why not give him a shot as for the islanders game I support Babcock decision I think it’s more important to keep Freddie confidence high going into the playoffs over sparks also that being said I think hutch should be called up sparks just isn’t nhl caliber the games he has won the leafs had to out score the other team.
