Deal works for both teams, we pay more so we don't have to trade Johnsson or Kapanen and also free up salary. Our defense looks solid.

The canes have lost of cap space but they have aho to resign and I’m sure they would love to resign ferland so I find it hard to believe they would take gardiner and Zaitzev contracts.

If we are trading for a top 6D I would rather take Jensen from Detroit. Mcquaid is good and all but I feel he would just be depth. Unless we are getting rid of Zaitsev, I feel Jensen is the better choice.
Jensen for some reason always plays really well against the leafs, so maybe he would play even better in a leafs uniform. He puts up more points anyway.

The second trade seems fair but remember Carolina wants more offence so I don't think they give us Pesce for two D and a penalty killer.

Carolina is stuffed with defensemen. They would have to sit somebody if they bring in two and only trade one. Who would they be sitting in press box? MostLeaf is right. They want forwards. And I imagine they would be interested in someone with a bit more substance than Brown.
