Leafs trade Zaitsev
Montreal trades Alzner

Zaitsev and Alzner are very comparable players. I used this year’s stats, which is why the comparison is incomplete, as Alzner has a short sample size. But you can look at last year’s stats, and again, eerily similar. Both play over 20 minutes a night, average over 100 hits and 100 blocks. Leafs save almost $1M cap space making this trade.

Zaitsev

27, 6’2”, 193lbs, 0.12ppg, +1, 48.4%cf

Alzner

30, 6’3”, 219lbs, 0.11ppg, +1, 51.8%cf.

To big of a risk for leafs to take a chance on him with a cap hit like that.

I'm going to make assumption you know he has been regulated an AHLer.

As the hockey pucks on tv/ radio have said since last year, his lack of foot speed does not translate in today's NHL. I agree. If this wasn't true he would be playing ahead of at least couple guys.

Not a trade you make to just save 1 mil off cap. He would not play ahead of current 6 on Leafs blueline.

Hope Robidas Island is not an option in your mind. Hope Leafs are past doing it anymore. Zaitsev in comparison can at least play.

This was a rhetorical trade meant to initiate discussion. Obviously not a serious proposal. I thought everyone would be able to see that. I didn’t actually think anyone would take it as a serious proposal.

I actually posted this almost a full 24 hours before it appeared on site. I didn’t think it was going to show, so I posted a comparisoninthe talk forum. All I wanted to do here was show just how bad Zaitsev has gotten that he is comparable to Alzner now.

If Leafs want to dump Zaitsev and save money, there are easier and better ways of doing it.

Actually Alzner's CF is considerably, almost deceivably higher. Their CFRel is nearly identical though at -3.5 and -3.9 respectively, furthering your point that Alzner and Zaitsev both appear to suck.

1. What discussion were you hoping to initate?
2. So you do not post serious proposals? Why not?
3. So you hope others are suppose to know your proposal aren't serious?
4. So you posted something thinking it wouldn't show? Not your first time on this site.
5. It's obvious Zaitsev is not as bad as Alzner otherwise he would be on Robidas Island, so why look to acquire a lesser player?

I always find your posts and comments (which are the equivalent of short stories and patronizing) so very confusing and all over the map.

I could tell you to stop with the fiction and fantasy and post realistic proposals but I guess won't.
