This is why zaitsev needs to go off-season you can't pay a 6 th defencenen 4.5 million

So this year you have much improvement on defence and you only have lost Johnson

I left out hainsey this gardener and Zaire’s by thing is a mess because they are liabilities. So try to move zairsev at deadline if you can get Pesce.

Well David, to be honest, I’d rather keep Liljegren and trade Johnsson for Pesce anyway. I think a trade centered around either Johnsson or Kapanen for Pesce is a great idea. Certainly most analysts I’ve read seem to think so.

Carolina definitely needs forwards. Especially with the almost certain departure of Ferland. As all Leafs fans know, Johnsson is really an incredible player. An elite skater with soft hands, he’s a true talent any team would love to get hold of.

It’s a bit more of a gamble retaining Liljegren as he is unproven, while Johnsson obviously has the ability to contribute at the NHL level, and even be a top six player. But we don’t have the depth in terms of prospects for Liljegren’s position as we do for Johnsson’s.

Not sure how I feel about losing both Johnsson and Timashov though. That depletes our LW depth quite a bit. With next season being Marleau’s last year as a Leaf, we would now be faced with replacing both Johnsson and Marleau. Maybe instead of Timashov, I wonder if Carolina would accept a pick to go along with Johnsson? What do you think the value of Timashov in terms of a pick is David?

Never know what Hurricanes r thinking considering their owner but Kapenen is their target so probably no. Timashov has no trade value.

It sounds like the only way the leafs can make a trade is if they are able to still have 3 mil in cap space due to performance bonuses that’s why a player like ferland makes sense he’s on a cheap contract leafs need to look at moving brown Zaitzev or gardiner.

Zaitsev has got to go, and Dubas knows that. The leafs cannot afford his 4.5 million next year.
