DBF. How wonderful. You haven’t been on site in a while. I’ve missed your snippets and faux commentary. Where you been hiding? I thought maybe you forgot about us all. Or worse, maybe you became a Habs fan.

I think it is pretty definitive that Leafs are looking for a heavy grinder type power forward and a RHD (not necessarily depth either) . What team isn’t constantly looking for a couple guys like that?

If you read the commentary by analysts on Simmonds, it’s undeniable that the pundits have mixed emotions on him. Some feel he is in decline, while others feel he still has the qualities to be a top 6 power forward. To be honest, I haven’t really watched him play much this year. Looking at his stats I would say he still has a lot to bring to the table for the right price. If we could get him in a package like what is suggested here, I don’t see any reason why we couldn’t pursue it.

I like this trade. Gudas would still be around after this season, which to me gives this proposal a lot more legs to it. The only thing that stands out to me as a negative is losing both Brown and Bracco kills our depth at that position. I’m sure we can plug up that 4RW easily enough, but that’s a lot of movement of personnel that might not be necessary. If Philly would take a LW prospect player like Timashov or Moore or Marchment instead, someone like that anyway, this would be a no-brainer.

Leafs are much stronger RW than LW still. But not in the prospect pool. We have a lot of very good LW prospect players still, even after trading Klimchuk and Grundstrom already.

Leave Simmonds alone, go after Gudas. Gardiner is that Leaf sufficient.

After that small trade for Gudas, than trade for a player that adds grit like Josh Anderson for Brown + Holl.
