To Tor:
Pietrangelo

To StL:
Zaitsev
2019 1st

StL gets a RD with term in return plus something for the future.

Tor gets leadership and stability on the back end and gets a bit more than a rental with next season under contract. Marleau contract is up at the same time and gives TOR room to negotiate to re-sign him.

Tor let's Hainsey and Gardiner walk as UFA's and brings up Liljegren, Lindgren, Borgman next season. Pietrangelo adds leadership to the group to help form the younger D-Men

2019 D Lines

Rielly - Hainsey
Gardiner - Pietrangelo
Dermott - Ozhiganov

2019/20 D Lines

Rielly - Pietrangelo
Dermott - Ozhiganov
Borgman - Lindgren/Liljegren

Sooner see Gardiner go. keep Zaitsev. Hate trading 1 st round picks. Leafs need some players who will not be push around and stand up for other smaller player. I would like to leafs to get St. Louis defenceman Pacrko ( sp) . But then you may have to offer Nylander and Gardiner.

A cap dump and a late first don't get you a top 1D.

If St. Louis doesn’t get a better offer it does.

@TheBriGuy

Interesting lineups. Not at all what I expected. Aside from Pietrangelo playing below Hainsey for the remainder of this year, you also have Borgman on the third line ahead of Rosen for next year. My understanding is both those guys are good to go, and possibly Liljegren too. We probably lose Gardiner and Hainsey to free agency, so that frees up room for two of those guys. Maybe Ozhiganov doesn’t get re-signed for next year and that’s our third?

LeafsGM, are you sure you understand how trades work? In case you're not sure, both teams have to agree to the deal, not just one. St. Louis doesn't have to trade him, they can always hang onto him and resign him. They have no reason to take on a boat anchor contract.

So, there would NEVER be a chance the Blues accept such a poor offer.

My mistake. You’re right. Congratulations, you win this debate. Zaitsev sucks and we can’t get rid of him. Why don’t you guys take him in Winnipeg and we take Myers?

Hey leaf fans, there are several things wrong with this post

1) in no world does hainsey start 1st line over petro.

2) zaitsev is not a good d with term. If he is so great then put on your 1st line. He is a 5 year cap dump.

3) your 1st 28-31 doesn't hold a lot value as you think.
So if you want petro think kappy, liljgren 1st.

Leafs gm, please explain your self. Everyone would freak out to pay more than that junk for petro. Fyi. I guarantee an extension with blues is more likely than trading him for a 1st and a cap dump. This just goes to show your off your rocker.

Zaitsev is going to be an issue for tor going forward. No one is just going to take as a core piece of a trade for an elite player. Teams are not obligated to take cap back in a trade. They call it a cap dump and it requires more value going to the other team.
